Federal Financial Report (FFR)

In January 2009, CNCS grantees will begin reporting financial data using the new Federal Financial Report (FFR). This will replace the Financial Status Report (FSR). The following materials will provide you with an overview of the new report:

These annual awards recognize outstanding participants in each of the Corporation’s three main programs—Senior Corps, AmeriCorps, and Learn and Serve America. This year, the Corporation and the Points of Light & Hands On Network are instituting a new corporate Spirit of Service Award honoring one company that embodies an ethic of service through its entire business enterprise, including a commitment to engaging employees, customers, and business peers in giving back as a core business practice. Presenting fiscal management principles in an engaging manner

Sometimes viewed as "dry" content, fiscal management principles are important in running a sustainable organization. The Nebraska Volunteer Service Commission has created a training exercise that allows for easy assimilation of these precepts. Janet Schmidt, of the Nebraska Volunteer Service Commission, submitted this effective practice in January 2006.

Using a personal style inventory for volunteer and member development

Personality style is an integral part of many training sessions. Identifying participants' style brings understanding and empathy to group members, helps trainers target materials, and can serve as a wonderful icebreaker for longer sessions. This effective practice was submitted by D. Mark Simpson during the "Eight Core Competencies: Best Training Practices" session, held at the 2005 National Conference on Volunteering and Service.
