AmeriCorps Performance Measurement Tutorials

Watch these audio-visual tutorials to learn how to develop and implement performance measurement. We recommend you download the companion material below and look it over before watching each tutorial. We also recommend you download the “toolkit” and keep it as a reference:

Descriptions of each of these tutorials are provided below:

Introduction to Performance Measurement (recorded March 2010)
This tutorial introduces performance measurement terms and concepts, describes the Corporation’s performance measurement requirements, and introduces the National Performance Measures


Introducing National Performance Measures (recorded January 2011)
This tutorial provides a more thorough introduction to the National Performance Measures and introduces the National Performance Measurement Instrument Packets designed to jumpstart the process of implementing performance measurement using National Measures.


The Logic Model and Aligned Measures (recorded March 2011)
In this tutorial, you will learn about the benefits of logic models and how you can use them to develop strong performance measures for your AmeriCorps program. You will also learn about the basic components of the logic model, walk through an example, and have an opportunity to develop logic models for common AmeriCorps service activities.


Identifying Indicators, Instruments, and Target for Performance Measures (recorded March 2011)
In this tutorial, you will learn about the measurement details that must be included with each result statement in the performance measurement section of the AmeriCorps application. These elements, known as indicators, instruments and targets, clarify the type of data you will collect to measure each result and to report progress for performance measures.


Completing Performance Measures in a Worksheet (recorded March 2008)
This tutorial reviews components of the performance measurement worksheet, and will help you understand terms including: indicators, targets, data source and instrument.


EXAMPLE for Completing Performance Measures in a Worksheet (recorded March 2008)
This tutorial demonstrates how to complete a set of aligned performance measures in a worksheet (a continuation from the previous tutorial).


Reporting Performance Measurement Results (recorded September 2009)
This tutorial presents an optional outline to help you organize information in a performance measurement report, demonstrates an example using the outline, and gives you some general tips for writing good reports.
