By February 17, 2009, all televisions must have digital capability. This means that programming received through “rabbit ears” or on a roof antenna will need a digital-to-analog converter box to continue watching television on that set after February 17, 2009. These boxes will cost approximately $40 to $70, and coupons are available to consumers in need of extra financial assistance. RSVP volunteers can be a vital resource in communities to assist with the transition – from helping to educate the public to assisting with installation of converter boxes.
