University’s Center for Intergenerational Learning is dedicated
to strengthening communities by bringing generations together to respond
to critical social needs. The center provides training and technical
assistance, conducts research, creates materials, and develops innovative
program interventions in the areas of youth development, family support,
literacy, elder care, arts education, and community development.

Training
and Technical Assistance: Provide training and technical assistance
to build and strengthen skills regarding marketing/recruiting, training,
and supervising baby boomers in all aspects of national service. Training
also focuses on enhancing the capacity of non-profit organizations to
develop and promote compelling service opportunities, including strengthening
organizational infrastructure to support boomer volunteers. Training
modules range in length from 1.5 hours to full day intensives.
Telephone and Online
Assistance: Technical assistance provided via telephone, web
seminars, online courses, and electronic mail.
Materials Development/Dissemination: Electronic news articles focusing on latest research on “boomer”
volunteering and capacity building for non-profit organizations; Appealing
to Experience (marketing strategies); Connecting Generations/Strengthening
Communities (intergenerational program development); and training manuals
for model projects that mobilize boomer volunteers. |
