Senior Companion Program
Operations Handbook
NOTICE: This handbook, issued
in April 2002, does not reflect changes in the
Senior Companion Program regulations published
in the Federal Register on September 27, 2002,
concerning (a) improving access to persons with
limited English proficiency; (b) clarifying what
income should be counted for purposes of income
eligibility of an applicant to become a stipended
Senior Companion; (c) providing increased flexibility
to sponsors to determine the hours of service
of Senior Companions; (d) reducing restrictions
on sponsors serving as volunteer stations; and
(e) providing for Senior Companions to serve as
volunteer leaders. The amended regulations may
be found in Title 45 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Subtitle B, part 2551.
