Training Officer’s Handbook
A Resource Guide for State Commission and National Direct Parent Organization
Training Officers
This brief handbook is intended as a resource for AmeriCorps* State and
National training officers as you carry out the various tasks and
responsibilities you will encounter as you develop, manage, implement,
and continuously evaluate your organization’s comprehensive training
plan.
You can use the handbook as a blueprint that will guide you in
assessing and analyzing the training and technical assistance needs of
the directors or supervisors, members, and volunteers of your programs
and further, we recommend that you consider using a logic model to
develop your plan in order to facilitate tracking and reporting on your
progress.
At the end of each chapter, you will find sections on Resources and Samples. Resources
provides information on books, articles, and websites both within and
outside of the national service field that you can use to further your
understanding of the topic. Samples is a section of examples
that can serve as templates or as benchmarks to help you with
designing, editing, or updating your own draft documents.
NOTE: This document is in DRAFT format.
