Abstract:
Gives the preliminary results from a study done to determine if adding a balanced literacy approach to already strong enrichment programs would increase the chances for educational gains. The intention was to refine the CORAL (Communities Organizing Resources to Advance Learning) initiative further by introducing a balanced literacy curriculum to the after-school programs. Displays the clear correlation between certain program practices and literacy gains. Useful to those that are considering how to best deepen the impact of their after-school programming.
