  • Have new members reflect on their idea of national service while they are glowing with idealism and optimism
  • Later in the year when the members face burnout and other issues, pull out these reflective papers and ask them to read them. Ask them if they have been able to accomplish what they set out to do.
  • Ask members regularly if they have needs, fresh ideas they would like to try out, problems, or concerns. Making the effort to hear them contributes to the fulfillment of their desired experience.
  • Tie community action and projects undertaken with member recognition. Prepare some concrete form of reward to recognize and show appreciation of members' efforts.
