Lutheran Social Services Foster Grandparent Program (NY)
The Foster Grandparent Program's primary goal is to offer opportunities for low-income persons aged 55 or over to provide supportive, one-on-one services in educational or child care settings to help alleviate the physical, mental, emotional or educational problems of special needs children. The Foster Grandparent Program enables participating seniors to remain physically and mentally active and to enhance their self-esteem through continued participation in needed community service. In turn, this program also enables children with special needs to improve physical, mental, academic, emotional and social development so that they have a better chance to become all that they are capable of becoming.
