Accessing the Resource Center E-mail Discussion List Archives
Why search the list archives?
- You recall seeing a key piece of information in a list post, but you did not save the e-mail.
- You are researching a particular topic.
- You are new to the list and want to see prior posts related to a specific topic (this is considered common courtesy if you are asking a question that may have been answered before).
Finding the Archives
Visit the main E-mail Discussion List page and locate the list you’re interested in. Click on the View archives link provided with the description.
You can also go directly to the All Forums page at the Resource Center’s e-mail discussion list website at lists.etr.org/read/. Notice the column header Members Only — this indicates which lists allow non-subscribers to search the archives and which will require you to log in. (If you’d like to subscribe to gain access, simply click the subscribe link on this page.)
Click the name of an individual list to open that forum and browse or search the archives. Once the list is open, use the Next button at the lower right to move through the archives.
Searching the Archives
Locate and click on the Search tab in the left navigation. Enter one or two specific terms (keywords) in the search box and click the Search button on the right side of the screen. Too many search terms reduces the likelihood of yielding results.
To narrow your search further, use the Advanced Search option, which is available in the Search box. Search on more terms, exclude certain terms if you’d like, and choose whether to search within the entire message, the body of the message, or the header only.
